U.S Grand Prix: Hamilton’s Title Win or A Vettel Fight Back?

We’ve gotten to the business end of this year’s Formula1 season. Every F1 fan will tell you that it has been one of the most amazing F1 seasons in recent times.

The drama at the top of the drivers’ standings has made the season even more interesting. The battle for dominance has been a straight face-off between Lewis Hamilton (307 points) and Sebastian Vettel (247 points).

With four races to go, all that remains now is the battle between these two names for the F1 drivers’ title. Will Sebastian Vettel delay Lewis Hamilton’s title celebrations by finishing the race in Texas in first position? Will it be Lewis Hamilton’s day?

1. It’s Been Lewis Hamilton’s Year

After winning 8 out of the last 16 races that were held this year, it’s hard to argue the fact that it has been Lewis Hamilton’s year. He has benefitted massively from the team he’s in (Mercedes AMG Petronas), the car he’s driving and the slip-ups by the likes of Sebastian Vettel.

Vettel, who won three out of the first six races this year, started the season on a high. But those accidents and having to start out from the back of the grid sometimes seriously affected his season. In the last few races, he has not been able to withstand the brilliance of his rival.

2. Hamilton’s American Record

Yes, it’s been a fantastic 2017 for Lewis. What’s more interesting is his record at Circuit of the Americas in the past few races there.

The Formula One star Lewis Hamilton has dominated at Circuit of the Americas in the past, wining four times at the same circuit since 2012. He set a track record at the circuit on Friday after racing the 3.4 mile course in 1 minute, 34.668 seconds.

On the same day, he also finished fastest in both practice sessions. With all of these, Hamilton is out to show the world that numbers don’t lie.

3. The Outsiders

Some other names have also been a huge part of this year’s F1 season. From the revelation of a certain Daniel Ricciardo, Valteri Bottas podium finishes and then Kim Raikkonen, the chasing pack has done its own fair share this season.

The race in Malaysia proved that if Hamilton and Vettel fail to turn up in any race, other names from this chasing pack can take advantage of the situation and go for a podium finish.

From the results of the first practice sessions on Friday, fans are set to experience a tightly-contested race in America on Sunday.
